Archaeology is the branch of Anthropology that seeks to explain the origins, patters, and behaviors of human culture through skeletons, pottery, and other remnants collected from past eras. Archaeology seeks to answer questions of the past with physical evidence of how people lived, acted, and responded to interaction with themselves and other cultures. The items that Archaeologists collect are called artifacts. Other disciplines that are included in the archeological branch of Anthropology include geology, history, and geography.

“Anthropology demands the open-mindedness with which one must look and listen, record in astonishment and wonder that which one would not have been able to guess.” - Margaret Mead
